Recover my domain
-
Hello,
My domain (lablondeetlevin.fr) has expired. But I would like to retrieve my domain. Could you help me please to do that ?
Thank you for your help
Anne Sophie -
Hi Anne Sophie, this domain is in redemption. I have sent an invoice for the renewal fee plus the redemption fee.
Please update us here when that has been paid so we can work on recovering the domain for you. Thank you!

I do not want to pay 30$ of redemption fee! So i am not going to pay and I will not recover the domain.
It is crazy that when the domain is expired for a moment (and we do not know how long!) it still belongs to wordpress…
The logic would be that when the domain is expired, directly the domain would be free. -
Hi there,
It is crazy that when the domain is expired for a moment (and we do not know how long!) it still belongs to wordpress…
The logic would be that when the domain is expired, directly the domain would be free. The domain expired on 5/8 and for
.frTLDs, there is no grace period after expiration. As soon as the domain reaches expiration, it goes immediately into redemption. At that point, users will need to pay the renewal fee plus the redemption fee if they want to keep the domain. That isn’t a WordPress policy, but rather how the domain process works in general with all hosts as regulated by the AFNIC:
The domain will be released on 6/7 for you to register again without the fee.
Hope that helps.

thank you for your quick answer.
the domain process is not simple….
but your mail is clear.
The domain will be released on 6 of June ? or 7 of July ? -

Haha, sorry that I defaulted to the U.S. date structure there. It will be released from redemption on June 7th so I would begin trying to register it again at that time.
You are absolutely right, the domain process isn’t simple at all – the
.frredemption process is completely different than.comTLDs (which actually has a 30 day grace period but a heftier fee – we charge $80). So, I understand your frustration, but hopefully, you can retrieve the domain without issue. Of course, let us know if you have any other questions – we’d be happy to help. Thanks,
