Recover old acct when email associated with it lost?

  • Unknown's avatar

Years ago, I set up a second, separate WP site from a second, separate WP account using an email account separate from my usual email. I posted only a handful of entries and then went entirely inactive, both on the WP and email accounts. Over the years, I have not only lost the email address that I used but cannot, no matter how hard I try, recall whatever clever PW I made to sign into the WP acct. I have tried before to recover the account, but do not have the info requested to do so, as I no longer have access to the email. I’d really like to try again. What are my options? Thanks for your time!

I should probably say that the email account is a rocketmail account, which has been deactivated and, by virtue of yahoo no longer hosting rocketmail accounts, it cannot be reactivated.

Nevertheless, I’d like to get back into my WP account, which separate from my mullberrywhine account and site. Any insight or next steps would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there,

You can find all our account recovery options here:

    Account Recovery

If you’re not able to provide one of the pieces of verification mentioned there, we won’t be able to give you access to the account. We cannot make exceptions when it comes to verifying account ownership.

    Thank you for your response.

The issue is that the original email is no longer available – it was deactivated for inactivity and cannot be reactivated as yahoo no longer supports rocketmail accounts.

Therefore, I cannot simply reset my password (the email associated no longer exists, so I’ll never be able to log in a reset) and I cannot use the provided account recovery form (again, the email no longer exists, so neither do the messages with the activation URL/keys sent to that email).

I am requesting more advanced options / assistance…

  • As I said above, there are no other options. If you no longer have access to the email address, and don’t have any of the other verification information we accept, there’s nothing we can do. We cannot give access to an account to an unverified owner under any circumstances, and there is no other information we can use for verification purposes – we can only use information that was captured when you created the account, i.e. the email address, or information that we provided to you that’s unique to your account, i.e. a transaction ID or activation key.

Again, thank you for your reply.

    This is so frustrating!

After almost 5 years of inactivity – with the accompanying life shifts – I just want to make my posts private…

Is an inactive account/site ever deleted after a specific period of inactivity?!

  • I’ve sent you an email to the address connected to this account with one other option we might be able to take. Please let me know if you don’t receive it, else please reply there.

Issue resolved, thank you SO SO much for your assistance!
