Recover very old free blog
-
My friends and I made a free blog in 2010 on wordpress.com. We stopped using it in 2011.
We no longer want the blog to exist.
We tried logging in with our very old credentials and they worked but we had to reset the password. A password link was set to an email address.
We don’t know what the email address is. We have no idea how to find out.
I can’t fill out the account recovery form because the proof of ownership doesn’t apply to us. There was never a transaction and it’s too old for anyone to have an activation code (even if we could find it) and 2FA was not a thing.
I emailed help@websupport but they said they can’t help me because I don’t have a paid plan.
How in the world do I recover access to this blog? Or just find out what the email address is?

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear you’ve lost access to your WordPress.com account.
What I could do is email the address on file and have you check any email accounts you own to see if you received my email.Otherwise, if you aren’t able to provide an email from the email address with which the blog was registered, a transaction ID, or the original activation link, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you recover the account.
We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.
However, if there’s personal information on your blog, I would be happy to set it to private, so that search engines and users can’t access it and your blog will be hidden from public view. Just let me know if you want us to do that for you.
If you want to start blogging again, you can create a new account by signing up here:

@staff-doublebassd thank you so much. Let’s try it.
Can you please take both actions – email the account you have on file, and make the blog private?
