  My website expired and I’m trying to find a way to recover the articles. It’s been a year. Me’thinks they are gone forever ?

  What was the address of your site? Was it hosted here at WordPress.com? If so then even if a domain expires the underlying free site should still exist. If your site was hosted elsewhere then yes, after a year everything will be gone.
