Recover wordpress website

A friend of mine made this website a few years ago, renewal has since finished and it seems even the domain name is free for purchase. Back then an entire site was made, hosted on wordpress.com. Is there any way for the site to be recovered or should I just accept that it is dead?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

According to https://completedns.com/dns-history/ that site was never running on the wordpress.com platform but was hosted by namecheap, so we can’t help at all

    Hi Ziyaad,

I understand you’re asking about recovering a site that was built on WordPress.com a few years ago, and I’m here to assist.

Just as an earlier response stated, the site you provided was never a WordPress.com site hence we cannot support with that at the moment.

That been said, I checked the sites linked to the email address you contacted us from, and none of them currently have an active subscription or domain. In fact, there has never been a subscription or domain on these accounts.

If you’re referring to a different site, please reach out from the email address registered to that site’s account and share the exact site address. This will allow us to take a closer look and confirm whether any content can still be recovered.

For context, if the site was on a Business plan and later deleted, backups may have been available for up to 6 months. Beyond that, the content would have been permanently lost. If it wasn’t on the Business plan and was deleted, recovery is not possible.

However, if the site was never deleted, the basic content (such as pages and posts) may still be accessible by logging into the original WordPress.com account under My Sites.

As for the domain, if someone else has already purchased it, we no longer have control over it. If it’s still available, you can register it again as a new domain. Here’s a helpful guide on how to do that: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/

If the site itself is no longer accessible, your best option would be either trying to regain access to the site if you have proof of ownership and remember the email associated with it or to start fresh on WordPress.com and, if possible, reclaim the domain if it’s available.

Please let me know if you can provide the site address and the registered email so we can take the next steps.
