recovering a deleted blog address
-
I created and deleted a blog as a test. Now I want to blog under that address and can’t recreate it. It never had content in it and was only up for about an hour. I have a branded name and don’t want to use any other name for my blog. My using WordPress to host my blog depends on me being able to use this name. Your help is appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not possible. There are 3 warnings and a verification link in an email required to delete a blog and there is no recycling of deleted blog addresses ie. URLs and once delete they cannot be reused by anyone.

Also note that the top level domain here is WordPress.com and all blogs here are on sub-domains. It does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain URL is if you purchase your own top level domain via a domain mapping upgrade.

I looked back through the email warnings, and there isn’t anything in them that actually says that the name won’t be re-usable. Lots and lots of warning about loosing content and that it won’t be recoverable. Now the support documents do say that, but I did not read them before delete the blog.
I guess my blog will have to stay on a competitor’s network. Too bad too. I really like wordpress and would like it to be here.
As for the domain idea, that’s a thought. WordPress would pay the domain registry fee then? (being a bit sarcastic here)

The warnings are right on the deletion page when you delete the site, and you even have to click a box saying “I want to permanently remove sitename.wordpress.com and I am aware I can never get its content or its URL back.”
