recovering a deleted domain

    hi! i realised after changing my domain to my current address that i’d actually like to keep my old one for possible future use. would it be possible to recover it since it’s only been a few hours?

    Self-declared URL: gamtob.wordpress.com
    Jetpack: Unknown
    WP.com: Unknown

    Hi there!

    Just to clarify, are you talking about a custom domain or the WordPress.com address of your site? If it’s the WordPress.com address, unfortunately, it’s no longer possible to restore or reuse the old address.

    Before changing the site address, we display several warnings that mention the old address will no longer be available. Once the site address is changed, it’s not possible to reuse the old address again.

    You are welcome to create a new WordPress.com site with a new address or upgrade to a WordPress.com plan and register a custom domain (which hides your WordPress.com address from your visitors). You can check our plans and pricing here:

    oh! sorry about that!

    i’d initially assumed that it’d be unrecoverable, but i saw other forums talk about it being possible to restore the address within 30 days and staff doing so, so i thought I’d give it a shot. policies must have changed since then.

    No need to apologize!

    Sites can be restored within 30 days if they are deleted, but if a WordPress.com site gets its address renamed, the old address becomes automatically unavailable for the future.
