Recovering access to disused website

  Hi
  I am trying to help my father who had 3rd party’s help in setting up his sokolart.co.uk website 2+ years ago, which we understand is set up on IONOS domain and uses WordPress. We no longer have contact with the people who helped set it up, but I’d like to take over the admin.
  We are struggling to recover the access username and the email which is used for the domain is not recognized in the WordPress database despite us having a few notifcations in the email inbox about failed installations of themes.

  Can someone point us where to recover the access details from and reset the admin password?

  Hi there,

  sokolart.co.uk is a site hosted with 1&1 IONOS and uses open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org), whereas this forum deals with sites hosted through WordPress.com.

  They’re very similar, but two separate things.

  Your hosting provider may be able to help you with your issues since WordPress.com has no control over sites hosted elsewhere.
