Recovering access to my websites
-
Hello,
After upgrading the software on my computer, I lost access to two of my websites: haltarl.com and stebbingheuer.wordpress.com
Grateful if you could help me to recover access to them.
With regards,
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Unknown -
Wordpress.com has a strict policy regarding restoring access to an account. To restore access to your sites, follow instructions at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/. As haltarl.com is on a paid plan, you can use the transaction ID.
-
Thanks, but that’s exactly my problem, I have no idea what this transaction ID is.
There is no problem with my username and password, my account has just disappeared and there is no one I can talk to, except via this forum. Grateful for any other ideas on reaccessing my account.

Hi there,
The transaction ID should appear in the charge description on the statement for the card you used to pay for the upgrades on that account. If you used PayPal to pay, you can also retrieve it directly from your PayPal account, or by contacting PayPal support.

my account has just disappeared
Your account hasn’t disappeared. The account that owns those sites is still active. But it’s a completely different account from the
jeremybrayff85143c91account you used to create this forum thread, and is associated with a different email address than the one you see at https://wordpress.com/me/account -

I have never bought an upgrade. My account just renewed automatically each year.

But where is it? I can’t access it using the email addressses that are associated with it?
All I want is a link that takes me to the account that owns those sites, but I can’t access one. Grateful if you could provide me with a link. You are Herman, yes? You helped me before, I would be grateful if you could help me again.

Let me make things clear:
I went to that ‘account recovery’ page. But I found that I didn’t have any of the three requirements for recovering my account. That’s why I came to this forum – to speak to someone about the problem that I have.
I have been with WordPress for I think eight years. I’ve never had this problem before. And I’ve never been late with a payment.

Hi there,
I have never bought an upgrade. My account just renewed automatically each year.
Each time your upgrade is renewed, either your PayPal account or bank statement should have a transaction ID reflecting the autorenewal. You should be able to use that transaction ID as proof of ownership when trying to recover your account. Do you have access to the bank/PayPal statement of payment method used to renew your upgrades?
But where is it? I can’t access it using the email addressses that are associated with it?
If you no longer have access to the email(s) connected to the account you are trying to access, you will need either the transaction ID (as mentioned above) or the activation link sent to you when you originally activated your account.
With either the above, you should be able to regain access to your account via the account recovery form:
If you are unable to fill out the form, please contact our Account Recovery Team directly at passwordhelp@wordpress.com.

Please listen carefully: I AM using the emails connected to the accounts. The problem is that when I log in they are re-directing me to this account, which isn’t connected to my wordpress accounts.
I would like someone to tell me:
1. why those email accounts are redirecting to this account
2. how they are going to fix this problem for me so that I can re-access my wordpress blogs.
Thankyou for the link to the email for the account recovery team.

1. why those email accounts are redirecting to this account
You are logged into the account
jeremybrayff85143c91. This account is associated with the email address you see when you go to https://wordpress.com/me/accountAn email address can only be connected to one WordPress.com account at a time, and the WordPress.com account that owns haltarl.com is associated with a completely different email address.
I have now sent an email to the correct address for the other account. Please check all your email accounts for that. When you find the email, that’s the one you need to use to log into the correct WordPress.com account.
2. how they are going to fix this problem for me so that I can re-access my wordpress blogs.
The only way to get access to that account, is to verify your ownership by entering a valid transaction ID in our account recovery form, or via email at the address my colleague shared above. If a credit or debit card, or PayPal account you own is being charged for renewing those upgrades, you will have access to a transaction ID.
If you don’t have access to a transaction ID, we have to assume you’re not the person paying for those upgrades, and then we won’t be able to give you access to the account.
