Recovering an old account
-
Hello there. I am trying to log back into an old account/blog. However, WP has seemingly locked it, with the message “Your account has been blocked as a security precaution. To continue, you must reset your password.”
Unfortunately, this was linked to an old email address to which I no longer have access, so resetting the password would be futile.
I tried the “Account Recovery Form”, but as I have none of the three required criteria, the form will not submit (I did not make a transaction, I no longer have access to any key, nor do I have 2FA, it was created long before 2FA). Even though, I still have the original username, blog address, and password, in order to log in.
Losing access to email accounts is quite a common thing (due to changes in ISPs, as in my case), and WP seem to have no facility to deal with this rather common situation.
All I actually want from WP is for WP to remove that lock/block on this old account, and I can log in using the original credentials. There seems no form or way to do this automatically, nor does it seem, any way to contact help and deal with a human to enable this situation. It is not like I am asking for a password reset and other access. I have the password, username and blogname. All I need is that WP-imposed lock removed so that I can log in. Where is the form for that?
Thanks. (sorry, very frustrated at the moment!)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
It sounds like you’ve gone through the motions here, and really you do need access to the original email.
Can you remember who is the email provider is out of curiosity?
Many thanks in advance – we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
