Recovering deleted comments

  Hi all,

  My account was hacked into and comments that had been left on my blog were deleted. Is there a way of recovering these? Like can I ask WordPress or something?

  Hi @rachaelgrealish,

  You can try and restore your comments from the Trash. If they are deleted from Trash, there is no way to recover them back. You can learn more about it here:

  Delete a Page or Post

  Also as your account was hacked, I would suggest you change password and use a <a href=”https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/
  “>Two Step Authentication system too.

  Hi there,

  On what site did this happen? Our internal logs add an entry each time a comment or a media file is deleted, and I don’t see any entries like that in the logs for http://countincows.wordpress.com/. Nothing has been deleted on that site for months.

  The logs for this username account also don’t show that you’ve changed the password as you said above – the password was last changed a year ago, when you also activated 2FA for this account. This leads me to believe you’re not speaking of the site http://countincows.wordpress.com/

  Woah pal, I never said it was a recent thing. It happened over a year ago, I was just curious to find out if there was a way of getting comments back that were kept in the spam box, then deleted.

  So instead of jumping to conclusions and down my throat maybe ask when it happened. ‘Happiness Engineer’? I wouldn’t like to see you on a bad day.
