Recovering Existing Site to merge to a new one

I made a site (pokemongbamd.wordpress.com) back in 2014 for a fun way to keep records for a group of friends of mine. We did not use it for any business or anything, just for fun for us. I am trying to revive the site, but it is telling me that the email that I am using is not linked to an account. I have tried several addresses, but to no avail. I would gladly recover the account as I likely have the password, just not the email address attached to it.

I know I do not have the proof required, but I would guarantee that the site has had no traffic since 2014. Is there anything that can be done to get access to the site?

Thanks so much for your help!

    -Jake Dant

This was a big help! Only issue now is that it is telling me that the password must be reset, but I cannot figure out what email address it has sent it to and Im worried that it is an address that is no longer active. So I am stuck again.

as I likely have the password

Hi! Generally for account recovery you’d need to have some proof of ownership even if you don’t necessarily remember what email address you had used to create it. We do have an account recovery form; this is the guide for it (there’s a link to the form there) detailing what we’d need:

I have the correct password, WordPress is just telling me that they have to reset the account I guess due to inactivity and they want me to retrieve the email but the address I used I believe is no longer in service.

We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns the site you are trying to access.

Thanks for the reply! I tried using this link and it will not let me proceed unless I have the Activation key or the transaction ID which I do not have because I do not have access to the email address that was originally used. The email account was hacked and shut down and I was never able to reclaim it. All I am looking to do is gain access to my site back or find someway to duplicate it or at least duplicate the exact format that it is in that took me a lot of time when I originally created it.

Please send an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com explaining the situation, and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do for you.
