Recovering Expired Domain

    My domain (www.thepurpleco.net) has expired and yet when I try to renew it through wordpress and the email that was sent to me to inform me of the expiration, the domain doesn’t show up for my account. How can I recover this domain?

    That domain expired in July and is now in the redemption period so the renewal option will no longer show in your dashboard and staff intervention is required to recover it. There is also an additional cost which has to be paid to the registrar for recovery. See this support doc: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/
    Although the title of your thread is clear enough I have added modlook to the tag box on the right to make sure that staff follow up.

    Hey there,

    As @themagicrobot mentioned, thepurpleco.net is now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.

    Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
    the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.

    Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.

    I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

    I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore thepurpleco.net to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.
