Recovering Old Account
-
I want to recover an old account that has been closed. I do not remember closing it; I think WordPress closed it. I do not remember the E-mail Address it was associated with or the blog it was associated with. However, I remember its username and password. I haven’t completed any transactions on that account.
Is there a possibility in which I can recover the account.

Hi there,
It’s only possible to recover it if it has been deleted in the last 30 days. You can read more here:
https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/#account-restoration
Also, if you don’t have any of the proof of ownership as mentioned in our Account Recovery guide (https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/), then we won’t be able to help you access it or restore it.

I think this account has been closed a long time ago. Is there any possibility that I can access that account again?
I don’t have some of the information required to recover the account but I remember reading a post stating that I could contact WordPress and they might be able to assist me. Would that be of any help to prove my identity?
Also, are closed WordPress account usernames recycled?

What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

I do not remember the blog but I remember the username and password. Is there a way I can privately contact you to share this information?

I think this account has been closed a long time ago.
We only added the ability to close WordPress.com accounts in May 2018.
That said, as my colleague said above, we can only reverse an account closure for 30 days afterwards. If the account was closed more than 30 days ago, there is no longer any way to restore either the username or any sites that belonged to that username.
Also, are closed WordPress account usernames recycled?
No. Usernames that are deleted through either a username change or an account closure are permanently disabled, and can never be used again by anyone, including the original owner.
I remember the username and password. Is there a way I can privately contact you to share this information?
You can post the username here, and we can redact it from the post once we’ve made an internal note of it.
Please don’t ever provide the password for any account to our support staff, not even privately via email. Passwords on WordPress.com are encrypted, so even if you told us your password we wouldn’t be able to check if it were correct, as we have no access to your password in our system – not even our systems team are able to see your password.

Thank you for your answer. It has helped clarify a lot.
The username for the WordPress.com account is [redacted]. Is it possible for you to find the E-mail address associated with that account as I don’t remember what E-mail Address was used? I could login to that account and share the activation URL, which appears to be required (as per this post: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/).
Just a question:
Does WordPress close accounts that have been inactive for a long period of time? -
You can contact me on (email visible only to moderators and staff) as I wouldn’t want that information out in the open.

That WordPress.com username was created in 2 October 2019, and deleted on 6 October 2016. As this happened over a year ago, there is no way to reactivate that account or get that username back.
Does WordPress close accounts that have been inactive for a long period of time?
We never close accounts or delete sites due to inactivity.
This account was deleted by someone who was logged into it at the time, and it was done just four days after the account was created.
