Recovery of site ownership
-
The previous site owner (with a generic admin name) for the website I am administering has left and their email address does no longer exist (I have tried to contact them at their address, but this bounces back). I am taking over as new administrator of the website. I would like your help to continue and have the admin user name as the default user name for the blogs, etc. Given the circumstances, I was hoping you could update the email address of the admin user to my email address or make a transfer of site ownership. I can give all the details if you could get in touch with me. Thanks a lot for your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You’ll need to reach out to the owner of the site and ask them to transfer ownership to you:https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

The physical person associated with the email address behind the ‘owner of the site’ has disappeared, so I cannot reach out to them in any way. The email address they had used to create the website no longer exists. I think the website was created in 2012 and several administrators have been added since, I am the latest to be added. Even if I were able to find out where they are now (they would have a new email address), they would not even be able to receive a new password at the email address they have associated to the ‘owner of the site’. Please could you propose an alternative solution? Thanks for your help.

Was the original person that set up the site https://en.forums.wordpress.com/users/eucuadmin/
If by some chance you had their password (phone them?) then you wouldn’t need an email address. You could log in with that username and transfer the site to another account following the link above. -
Yes, that is indeed the admin user who is also the site owner – this original person is long gone and I have only a very fragmented idea of their real name from their old email address. This is a very common name, and all I know is that they are no longer working in the same place they had when they created the site, so they lost the email address they had then. I would not be able to reach out to them. I agree if I could trace their whereabout, and had a phone number to call them, or email them and obtain the password they used to have, then that would be no problem for me to login in their place, using the user name or old email address, since I have both. The problem is that they are gone, and I have no idea where they went. Since they have already contributed a number of posts, and this is the most convenient user name for me too, it would help for continuity to associate the very useful user name of eucuadmin to my email address. It would be very convenient also for me to be the site owner in order to install plugins, etc. Or if you can propose any other way to achieve this, please let me know. Thanks a lot.
