recycled blog names

There was a topic that was started that did not get an answer by a member of wordpress so I would like to ask it again. I would like to know why we can’t have access to deleted or recycled blog names if the previous owner has deleted the blog and want no further use for it.
I have a blog called ripple in the dark but I want to use ripples in the dar with the s at the end of ripple. However, someone else took that blog name and did nothing with it. I don’t think it’s fair to penalize someone who would like to use a name that has been clearly abandonned by someone else.
Can’t there be any exceptions? I am sure that the moderators of wordpress can release the name back into the system.

There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

No, of course not. Staff will not breach the privacy policy, snatch back blogs and gift others with them. If you are committed to blogging over the long term I strongly recommend purchasing your own domain.

I’m not doing a duplicate. I was told to try to contact the previous owner so I started a forum to do that. How am I supposed to find the previous owner on wordpress of a deleted account if not in a forum?
The person would have started a new blog name so how would I locate him or her?
Do you have a link where I can go and contact the owner? The links I was sent did not direct me.

Your advice on trying to contact the previous owner doesn’t make any sense then. What’s the point of saying I could try if there is no way. The blog was abandonned/deleted and the owner probably has a new blog name. I googled and searched for the name on wordpress and it doesn’t come up. It’s like you’re sending me on a goose chase.
I am already paying for 2 blogs, I don’t want to have to pay for a 3rd one if the blog isn’t being used.
I think I speak for many people on the site that if a name has been deleted then after a certain amount of time, it should be made available to someone else.
