Red “X” after I centered an image
-
I centered an image on the home page of my blog and now I have a beige left justified border (which is o.k.), but a red “X” on the lower left hand corner. If you click on the “x” it opens a new screen and shows you the centered picture.
My blog is southingtonkidsplace.wordpress.com
and the code I used for the photo (which I took from the editor and a resolved FAQ on cetering images) is
<div align=”center”><img src=’….’><img src=’http://southingtonkidsplace.wordpress.com/files/2007/11/mosaic1966913edit1.jpg’ alt=’mosaic1966913edit1.jpg’ /></div>Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to center an image after uploading is to be in the “visual” mode and click on the image. You can use icon 8 (the center text icon) to center the image.

Here’s the icons link http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/
Would you please post a link to the post with the image in it that you are having trouble with?
Would you also tell us please which browser and version of it that you are using?

I did see that FAQ, but I can’t get the visual editor to show itself. Perhaps, being a totally newbie (I was going to write idiot, but decided to be a little kinder), I missed it, but I pushed Control F5 while I was in editing (in both IE 6.0 and Mozilla 1.7.13 or 5.0 depending on which is the correct number – I really should have gone with idiot ) and the visual editor did not appear. The post is the one and only post on the home page

Sorry, but I’m not sure how to post a specific link to a post unless you mean the URL from my edit page.
Thanks so much for your help!

I can’t get the visual editor to show itself
-> Dashboard -> Users -> Your Profile and make sure that you have the box marked for ___ Use the visual rich editor when writing then click “Update Profile” to save. Sometimes this becomes unmarked for no reason that we are aware of.
Here is something you can try whenever these types of issues arise.
Cookie Dance
step 1. log out
step 2. clear your browser cookie
step 3. clear your browser cache/temporary internet files
step 4. close your browser
step 5. go back and testI can see the photographs with no problem using Firefox 2.0.0.9 and IE7 so I assume the problem you are having is due to your browser. Have you considered updating it?

Just as you thought, my visual rich editor box was unchecked. I tried to change it at work and it would not take even after I did the cookie dance. It was weird. When I did it from home, it took first try. I think I will update IE at work. I’m sure you are right about that as well. Thanks for all your help!
