Reddle Theme widget question
-
Hi,
Widget question here: How do I get my widgets to be on the outer sides of my blog?
Right now they’re at the very bottom (in the footer areas), all the way down below the first post, while I would like them to be on the sides of my most recent post (and stay at the top of the page as I update posts..). I tried using sidebar 1 and 2, but that ‘narrows’ the way the post is displayed in about a half.
I would like my widgets to be on the side of posts without affecting the current display. How do I do that..?
I wanted to add photos to this question to help clarify the problem but I’m not quite sure how to do that…
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

Hi there – a screenshot would be helpful to better understand what you’re seeing when you add widgets to Sidebars 1 or 2. Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library so I can see it. Thanks.

Great, thanks!
Had the screenshots, just wasnt sure how to add them for people here to see. There in the Media Library now (named narrow display / wide display)

A guess:
According to the Reddle theme guide,The default layout for Reddle (seen above) is fluid. That means the layout will stretch to fill your browser window no matter the size. But if you add a Custom Header Image to your blog or a Custom Menu, Reddle will snap to a fixed layout.
It looks like the width of your custom header, which fixes the width of the theme, may result in a theme width that is too narrow to allow for a second column. Therefore, the sidebar is automatically relocated to the footer area.

Thanks for the screenshot:

Interesting theory, but that isn’t what’s happening. The Flying Foodie currently has footer widgets active, and they are correctly appearing in the footer area as expected.

Flying Foodie, if you look at the screenshots on the Reddle showcase page, you’ll see that the two-column display closely matches yours:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/reddle/
Have a look at these two specifically:
I also ran some tests and got the same result when adding widgets to either of the two sidebar widget areas (Sidebar 1, Sidebar 2). Looks like this is how Reddle is designed to be displayed.
Just let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you so much for your answers and help!
Too bad it can’t be changed, but good to know for certain..
