Redemption Please
-
I believe my domain is in redemption mode. I would like to get it going again. My credit card that was for renewing was stolen and I was given a new one. I have had a really hard time trying to find someone to discuss this with and, in the meantime, my website has been down.. Please help me get this going for my nonprofit. It’s bad for our image!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve sent a renewal message to the WordPress.com user that owns this domain.
If you have additional questions, please let us know.

Paul,
I have not received any email from you as the owner of this domain. My old email: (email visible only to moderators and staff) may not be forwarding my mail. My new email is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I hope you can help. It is stressful not having the site up and running.

Your user account, marytalbot1210, does not own socaljazzsociety.org. I have sent the renewal email to the WordPress.com user that owns this Upgrade.
If you also control this account, but have lost access, let me know and I will review your Account Recovery options.

I do own this account. My friend Kim Itkonen helped me get it started, but I believe we are both administrators. The company, SoCal Jazz Society, is my business.

Hi Mary,
WordPress.com upgrades are only owned by a single WordPress.com account, even if the blog has multiple administrators. Although you own the WordPress.com Premium upgrade, the other administrator registered the domain and so she’s the domain owner. Only the domain owner can recover an expired domain like this.
Can you ask your friend Kim to check her email for the details about recovering this domain?

The other administrator, Kim Itkonen, has not received any emails from Paul or any one else at WordPress. She doesn’t have access to her old email.
Here is the email she sent to me on May 1st, 2015:
Hi Mary,
Sorry to hear that. They may have sent it to an old email address that I know longer have access to. Not sure how to deal with this…
They might have sent it to my (email visible only to moderators and staff) address. If you give them my gmail address or my phone # if you have actually been talking to them perhaps I convince them. KimHere gmail address is (email visible only to moderators and staff) and her telephone number is [redacted]. Please contact her so that we can get this site back up and running. I have already paid the renewal fees. Also I would like to find out how we can avoid this happening again in the future. Kim is no longer directly involved with the SoCal Jazz Society business. I am the primary web master.

Hi Mary,
Does Kim still have access to her WordPress.com account? If so, she can update her email address in her account settings. Unless she logs in and contacts us or emails us from the email address on her account, we aren’t able to make any changes to her account or upgrades.
If she can’t log in, please ask her to follow the steps in our Account Recovery guide to regain access to her WordPress.com account. That will allow her to log in and contact us so we can help transfer ownership of that domain to you, so you’ll be able to renew manage it.

Here is the latest email from Kim Itkonen who evidently is the only one who can authorize and update of this website.
Hi Mary,
I can’t access my wordpress.com account yet – I’ll keep trying – but I have been able to login to my wordpress.org account and change the email to kim.itkonen@gmail. Maybe that will work for them?
I’ll keep working on it… Kim -
Hi Mary,
I see that Kim successfully updated her contact information and got in touch with us directly. We’ll be able to help her directly with recovering the domain and transferring ownership of the domain to you so you can manage it from here on out.

I am very anxious that this site is still down. It is really causing me problems with my work. I paid now twice for the reinstatement of the site and still it isn’t up and running. I would like a refund for the time I haven’t been able to have a working website.

Hi Mary,
The redemption process has begun with our registrar team but this process does take a few days.
Kim has also confirmed with us to transfer the domain to your ownership once we have control of it again.
If for some reason we cannot retrieve the domain from redemption, the renewal fees will be completely refunded.
However, all the hosting services here on WordPress.com are free via the free *.wordpress.com web address. All the fees paid were associated with renewing the domain upgrade. I’m afraid I cannot offer any refunds for the time lost regarding that domain name’s expiration or renewal.
If you prefer to use only the domain name and not the Premium plan, I can have the Premium plan removed and refund that if you wish.

Hi Mary,
Sorry about the delay. Our domain registrar just got back to us and socaljazzsociety.org is now functional! I have pinged kim to verify that she wants to transfer the domain to you, and once she gets back to me, I’ll process that right away.
Cheers!
