Redesign website

  I have a client that wants to redesign his website that is on wp.com. It looks like I can’t use any duplicator plugins to duplicate the site and redesign it on a self-hosted website then re-upload it here. I’m used to dealing with self-hosted sites and not wp.com sites.

  Is there a way to create a subdomain on his account and build the new site there then override the current site when it’s ready? If not, what’s the best way to go about redesigning the site but keeping the other one live without any construction pages? I will need to duplicate the site some how so I’m not redesigning everything. Is there a duplication option on wp.com sites?

  Yes, you can do that. Just register another free site address on the account, and build the site. Then you can set that new site as primary. If you want to direct the traffic from the old site to the new one we can help you configure that once it’s ready.
