Redesigning our WordPress blog

  Hello,

  My name is Jay London. I work at MIT and a lead writer MIT’s blog Slice of MIT (slice.mit.edu). We would like redesign the look and feel of our blog, and do not know where to start.

  The themes that are available in our blog’s dashboard are not adequate and I can’t seem to find a way to incorporate or preview any of the themes found here: theme.wordpress.com/.

  Hi Jay!

  The site you mention (slice.mit.edu) is actually a self-hosted site, which is a bit separate from WordPress.com. You can read a bit about the difference here:

  To clarify, the themes shown here are specifically for WordPress.com sites:

  http://theme.wordpress.com

  Some of those themes are also available for self-hosted sites. For example, you’ll find many of our free themes here:

  https://wordpress.org/themes

  However, we also have third parties selling themes at WordPress.com. For example, Camera is made by a company called Array:

  https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/camera/

  In order to use that theme on your self-hosted site, you would need to purchase it here:

  https://array.is/wordpress-themes/

  Then, once you figure out what theme you want for your self-hosted site, you can upload it to your site as described here:
