Redesigning website in background

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

I’ve a blog that I’d like to turn into a website. This will require me rejigging some of the content I have to be accessible under a new menu structure. I’d like to do all of this rejigging in the background, and once ready publish the new website thereby replacing my old blog.

Is it possible to do this? If so, what’s the best way to go about it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Regards
    Elaine

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Elaine, I think I understand.

Have you thought about adding new “pages” to the site but not adding them to the menu yet? Then when you’re ready to go live, swap out the front page and add your menu:

    Set the Homepage

If you need something a bit more complex than that, let us know. We’ll see if we can help.

Thank you so, so much for that advice. As per your instructions I have created a new homepage showing my latest blog posts. So cool, didn’t know I could do that.

Is it possible to keep my existing theme displayed on this static home page? Or if I want to change the theme will I have to change it on all pages?

    Regards
    Elaine

  • The theme applies to your whole site so if you change it, you will see the change on all your pages and posts. I hope that answers your question :)

Ah, I see. Might be hard for me to redesign the website / blog behind the scenes then.

    Thanks for your help.
