Redirect Old WordPress Blog to New One

  We’d like to redirect our old WP blog to the new one- I can’t figure out how to do this without getting into the DNS server stuff which i don’t see how I have access to since we purchased the domain through WordPress. Thanks for your help!

  What are the two URL’s (from to) beginning with http that are involved?

  Are you trying to remap the domain you purchased for one WordPress.com to another? If so, please contact staff:

  auxclass- the old blog is http://bmclibrarycinti.wordpress.com/
  The new blog is http://libraryexample.wordpress.com, but we purchased the domain brownmackielibrary.com, so that the libraryexample blog is redirected to brownmackielibrary.com. We’d like to redirect the old blog to that domain as well.
  naokomc- is this the kind of situation to contact support for?

  It looks like this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/offsite-redirect/ will let you redirect bmclibrarycinti.wordpress.com/ to brownmackielibrary.com – it says off-site but the redirect goes to a standard .com site.

  Easiest to contact Staff on this at the link above for the final word –

  WordPress.com did not in the past have the ability to redirect from one WordPress.COM blog to another WordPress.COM blog – but the new format looks like it should let you redirect as long as you have the domain upgrade – I have not tried it yet however.

  Isn’t there a free way to do it? I have a Google site which I have redirected to a paid domain- why wouldn’t I be able to do the same thing with a WP blog? DO they purposely obscure the DNS server information so it can’t be redirected without upgrading?

  You can leave the last Post at the top of bmclibrarycinti.wordpress.com/ with a BIG notice “We have moved to…….” with a link visitors can click on –

  Are you leaving the old content on bmclibrarycinti.wordpress.com/ or have you moved it to your new site?

  In the past WordPress.com has not had any way to redirect to a different WordPress.com blog from inside WordPress.com –
