Redirect a single page elsewhere on my site
-
I recently moved my site back to WordPress.com from being self-hosted.
The self-hosted site had a small number of page redirects, so for example:
http://billbennett.co.nz/freelance-writer/
redirected to:
http://billbennett.co.nz/about/bill-bennett-freelance-journalist/
Is it possible to set up a similar redirect in WordPress.com? I currently have the page showing a link to the desired target page, which solves the 404 error, but doesn’t look pretty.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, you can’t use redirects like that at WordPress.com. Looks like your best bet is just to move the contents of the page onto the actual URL. You can change the title of the page if you want, without changing the URL.

Yes (duplicate content).
In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we’ll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. As a result, the ranking of the site may suffer, or the site might be removed entirely from the Google index, in which case it will no longer appear in search results.

In case you haven’t done it already, you’re well-advised to set your external blog to Private or delete it altogether, specifically for this reason.
With the redirects, as long as there are a SMALL number of them, putting the pages up shouldn’t hurt you to any noticeable degree.
