Redirect a wordpress blog to show up on a URL .com that I purchased on 123reg

    What I need:

    I need to make it so that WordPress site I built on hadlandkentpublicrealtions.wordpress.com shows up at hadlandkent.com.

    I have purchased hadlandkent.com on 123reg.

    What I tried:

    I trawled the the support forums but it is all far to complex for me to grasp.

    I purchased a “redirect” from WordPress for £11/ $13, because this is what the support section suggested, but it is not working.

    According to the VERY complicated support ‘tutorials’ i now need to update name servers at registrar and manage the DNS, it says “Enter these three separate entries” but where am I meant to enter them? THis is really beyond me, and there is no way of getting any help from wordpress or 123reg. I am at my wits end.

    Please help!

    Also got an email about verifying “Whois” which told me to click on a link in order to verify. The link in the email does not work.

    Hi there,

    For your WordPress.com site to appear at your domain hadlandkent.com, you’ll need to make sure your domain is pointed to WordPress.com. Your domain’s name servers are what tell your domain where to look for your site. (Right now your domain is using the 123reg name servers, so it’s looking for your site there instead of here at WordPress.com.)

    Since you purchased the domain from 123reg, you’ll need to go there to update your domain’s name servers to the WordPress.com ones:

    • NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    • NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    You can follow the steps in this 123reg help page to make that change:

    If you run into trouble with that process, please contact 123reg support for more assistance with that.

    Once that change is done, and the change takes effect everywhere, you’ll be able to see your WordPress.com site when you visit your domain. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
