Redirect deleted post to home page

  Hi there!

  I search for this topic here but I can’t find anything about this…

  I would like to know if I could create a post then, after some days, I delete this post…but I don’t like to get a 404…I would like that deleted post redirect for a specific page in my blog.

  It’s possible do that at worpress.com?

  Not really

  Clear the contents from the Post in question – then leave a link to the home page is about your only option – you don’t have access to the config files to do a redirect automatically with those files

  But It’s a very useful behavior don’t you think? To avoid 404…

  I work very had not to have 404 errors – I have had a couple of Posts that were published with major errors and the title was in error – I kept the original bad Post and as soon as a revision was ready, I cleared most of the material from the original Post and put a note to go to the correct Post – sort of crude but works
