Redirect doesn't work!
-
Hello,
I purchased the redirect service today. I want all the people who go to the old blog, http://www.bedroombondage.wordpress.com, to go to http://www.bedroombondage.co.za/blog, which I typed in as redirect. However, when I Google “BDSM aftercare 101”, for example, and click on the 2nd link (which is from my old blog), it wants to take me to http://www.bedroombondage.co.za/blog/2013/04/26/aftercare-101/, which gives a 404, since the article is on http://www.bedroombondage.co.za/aftercare-101-bdsm-how-to/.
How can we fix this?
Warmly,
Noëlle

Hi Noëlle,
You’d have to do one of two things—either use a plugin like Redirection ( http://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/ ) or directly add the redirection to your .htaccess file.
Alternatively, if you change the Permalinks structure (via Settings->Permalinks) to match the WordPress.com style, the links may work as well. That, though, would break any links sent out since bringing your new site online.
Since your site is now on WordPress.org, their forums is the best place to get further assistance on how to internally redirect pages for your new site. The forums there can be reached at http://wordpress.org/support/
Cheers!

Hi,
My point is.. I purchased your redirect service, and it doesn’t work. Will you refund my money, then? That is exactly why I contacted you, and not someone on .org.. because it’s your service.
Hope to hear from you soon..

I’m happy to issue you a refund. The redirect works by rerouting links on your previous domain bedroombondage.wordpress.com to the same address on your new domain, in this case, http://www.bedroombondage.co.za/blog/
Our systems have no way of knowing that the internal URL structure changed when your site was moved nor how to account for that change, e.g. how to know that /2013/04/26/aftercare-101/ is now /aftercare-101-bdsm-how-to/
I apologize for the confusion. Your refund should be in your PayPal account shortly.
