redirect drama
-
Hi,
Would like to permanently redirect my old, free WP blog, to my new, separately hosted domain that is managed with WP software. Have spent last half hour digging up how to do this and nothing is working, so I was hoping for some input.
The first way seems to be to use a plugin to do redirects. Well the blog I want to redirect is free, so no plugins allowed (right?).
The second way is to change some code in the header. Again, free blog, no editor.
The third way was to use a text widget in tandem with this code:
<div align=”center” style=”width:100%;top:-192px;left:193px;position:absolute;z-index:11;”>
<div style=”width:374px;height:149px;”> </div>
</div>Which I can’t seem to make work. There was some talk that it has to go in the header, but when I select where to add the widget there is no header option?
I also looked into the “domains” tab on the “manage my blogs” menu, and that looks like what it’s doing is tying whatever new url I put to the FREE WP blog, when what I want is to redirect the free one to the paid one. Logical next step would be to click the “domains” tab on the paid site and change it there, but then it brings up a 404 error.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oh and the other question I had was if I set up a redirects plugin on my paid blog, then can I use that to redirect my FREE blog to the paid one? Or does the redirect plugin have to be installed on the blog you’re redirecting FROM?
