redirect errors

    Hi, Happy New Year.

    I have learned from this site that deleting pages/posts is something to be avoided so I don’t do that anymore and timethief gave me instructions on how to have those deleted via Google Webmaster – thanks :) I have cleaned those up.

    What I did not know and now I do is that deleting tags or categories is also something that should be avoided. I have 14 redirect errors and they are all tags and categories that I deleted and/or made changes to. Does anyone know how I can go about cleaning those up? I’ve searched and looked on Google’s instructions but to be honest, I just can’t figure it out.

    If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It would be helpful if you could provide that information on how to delete via Google webmaster. I have also realized that deleting posts/tags/categories is not worth it.

    @ismailimail

    To remove pages that generate a 404 error, this is how I removed them. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals

    But that doesn’t work for redirect errors.

    Very useful to know, thanks. It makes sense once you think about it, though. I make many, MANY links to category pages.

    I do think you’re probably out of luck in terms of what you can do. 404s are not configurable here.

    With a self-hosted WordPress blog, I would recommend a permalink redirection plugin. But that’s not relevant here.
