Redirect instead of domain mapping with premium upgrade?

  hi there, if I buy a premium upgrade for abc.wordpress.com, is there any official or inofficial way to “map” another wordpress domain (say def.wordpress.com, which I already own) *instead of* a custom domain to my abc site?

  Or do I have to grudgingly buy an extra redirect for def, while not even using the free custom domain for abc?

  Hi there,

  A site redirect and a domain mapping do two completely different things.

  Mapping is used to connect a domain to a site. You cannot map a free WordPress.com address to another WordPress.com site.

  A redirect is used to re-route traffic from one site to a completely different site. The free domain credit on a plan cannot be used to redirect a completely different site than the one for which you purchased the plan as the site redirect has to be purchased for the site you wish to redirect.
