Hi there,
The site redirect is intended for those of our users who have moved their sites to WordPress.org AND changed their domain name at the same time. So that means that you would need to have migrated your site from your WordPress.com site of johannaelsemore.com to notesfromamessykitchen.com (so that all of your articles are now in the exact same place on notesfromamessykitchen.com as they were at on johannaelsemore.com). You definitely fulfill those requirements, but the settings on your site are a little off which is causing some problems.
On notesfromamessykitchen.com, you have set your blog to not have the dates included in your URL pattern. So the article you mentioned is at:
Rather than at the URL it’s trying to find:
Sadly the redirect doesn’t really work in such a way as to remove those dates for you. As such, you have two choices:
1) You can modify your new blog to include the dates of the blog entries.
2) You can cancel and get a refund for your site redirect.
It is entirely up to you!

Thanks so much, that makes sense. Do you know how to modify the URLs to include the dates on the wordpress.org publishing platform so that it will be applied retroactively?

Yep! There is actually an entire help article under the WordPress.org Codex which will help you with that. You can find it right here:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Excellent! I’m so glad that it’s working for you.
I hope you have a great rest of your week!
