redirect loop

We have a wordpress site (thecoopop.wordpress.com) and a godaddy domain (coopop.org); after recently renewing our domain name our site is stuck in a redirect loop. Our godaddy forwards to thecoopop.wordpress.com and I can’t find a place on my wordpress admin for site name or anything. Help please!?!

    Hi there!

So here’s what’s happening: your redirect (purchased on GoDaddy) sends coopop.org to thecoopop.wordpress.com, but your domain mapping (purchased on WordPress.com) sends thecoopop.wordpress.com to coopop.org. That’s the redirect loop.

The way to solve it is to remove your redirect setup on GoDaddy.

Next, change the name servers for coopop.org following these steps:

    https://support.godaddy.com/help/article/12317/setting-custom-nameservers-for-domains-registered-with-us

The name servers for WordPress.com are:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Once you have updated the name servers, it may take up to 72 hours for the domain to be pointed to your WordPress.com site correctly

Let me know if you hit any snags. :)

    Hello,
Thank you for your help. We are still unable to fix the problem. We did not purchase domain mapping on WordPress. In fact, when I go to the store, I have the option of buying a redirect from wordpress for $13 a year.

When we type in thecoopop.wordpress.org it also gets caught in the redirect loop> how do we remove the wordpress > .org forwarding that we have not purchased?

    Hi there,

You already have domain mapping for coopop.org — you can see that upgrade on your My Upgrades page, and that adds the domain to your site’s list of domain options on the My Domains page as well.

I switched your site’s primary domain to its free WordPress.com address so you can view your site there for now: https://thecoopop.wordpress.com/

If you make the name server change that Alex mentioned, you’ll be able to set coopop.org as the primary domain on your My Domains page and have it fully mapped to your site that way. Alternately, you can continue redirecting your domain coopop.org to thecoopop.wordpress.com now that thecoopop.wordpress.com is the site’s primary domain.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)
