Redirect my content with or without a Redirection Plugin

  As I am not able to use the Plugin panel with my admin account I would like to ask the following:

  How can I install a Redirection Plugin if I do not use a self-hosted blog? OR How can I redirect my content in general without using a Plugin?

  I already heard about a so-called .htaccess file but it seems to be rather error-prone to use this method. Is there a way to get around this?

  You cannot install any plugins on WordPress.com blog/site due to security restrictions.
