Redirect on page url change
-
If I change the “Parent” of a page, or it’s URL slug, it appears that an 301 redirect is automatically created for the old address. This feature however doesn’t appear documented.
I would like if this feature was documented to work, so I can feel better about relying on it.
It would also be nice if I could add redirect URLs for a page manually. In some cases I may wish to consolidate a page, or already have a new page. Or in some cases I may have just published the wrong URL and want to explicitly redirect the broken one to the right place.

Hi mortoray,
When you update the parent page or URL slug of a post/page, we automatically redirect the old URL to the new one.
It would also be nice if I could add redirect URLs for a page manually.
Manual redirects for posts and pages aren’t a supported feature on WordPress.com, only the changes I mentioned above :)

This feature doesn’t appear to always work. I was trying to get some redirects but they aren’t working.
For example, I previously had a
/cloverleaf/page with text and a link to/leaf/. I deletedcloverleafand instead renamedleaf->cloverleaf->leaf. But then going to/cloverleaf/brought me tohttps://mortoray.com/2012/07/07/cloverleaf-start-with-an-expression-parser/instead!I also tried with
dupesychristmas->dupseychristmas->dupesychristmasto fix a typo, but the incorrectly spelleddupsetchristmasgot a 404 error after doing this. I had to go back to manually creating the incorrect URL and sticking in a redirect. It’d be extrmeley benefciial to see what redirects a page has associated with it and to add new ones.
