Redirect pages to a different domain that are now posts
-
I recently moved my free wordpress blog to a hosted site but in the process I changed the format of my pages into posts. Does your redirect process redirect the traffic from the page to the new post format of the same page?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The Site Redirect upgrade does work to redirect traffic from an old version of your post at WordPress.com to your self-hosted site. However, the page and post URLs must match exactly. For example, the post titled “FABULOUSLY FRUGAL DIGEST: June 9: Revised Date for RedDot Art 360…” shown here:
FABULOUSLY FRUGAL DIGEST: June 9: Revised Date for RedDot Art 360…
Would redirect to the corresponding post on your self-hosted site with the following URL:
Does that make sense? The post or page slug need to match. So fabulouslyfrugalinvancouver.wordpress.com/about would redirect to fabulouslyfrugalinvancouver.com/about.
However, currently, the post slug for your self-hosted blog is just set to display your post title like this:
You’ll notice the date is missing. So, the redirect would not work in this case for posts. However, it should work for pages (since page slugs don’t include the date).
Is that what you were looking for?

So it doesn’t matter that the original http://fabulouslyfrugalinvancouver.com/west-coast-prawn-crab-boil-up-a-summertime-seafood-party-for-just-49/ was a PAGE on the old site but now is a POST on the new site as it doesn’t look at the format but at the title(?). I want to purchase the redirect that wordpress offers but want to make sure it will work before I spend the money

It doesn’t look at the title so much as the URL. So, the Site Redirect is meant to redirect one root URL to the other. For example, the following redirect would work:
example.wordpress.com/this-test-page
to
example.com/this-test-page
The Site Redirect just switches out example.wordpress.com for example.com and looks for the same slug. So, if you had a page at WordPress.com that has the same corresponding slug as a post on your self-hosted site, the redirect should work.
I just added the Site Redirect upgrade to your blog as a quick test to make sure things are working correctly. Can you give it a try and let me know if it is accomplishing the desired effect? If so, you can purchase it by clicking “Renew Now” here:
https://fabulouslyfrugalinvancouver.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
Otherwise, I’ll remove it from your account.

Hi, yes it seems to work.. So you can remove it from my account and I’ll pay for the redirect when I get home tonight – thanks for your help!
