redirect to other pages & add downloadable pdf

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I deleted something when I first started that had the 3 images on my homepage that could possibly redirect to other pages. That is gone. I have no clue what I did. So I am wondering how I can upload an image on my homepage that would redirect to another page on the website itself. Not a URL for a separate website.

Also I have a resume as well as a portfolio book (30 pages) that I want to have a link to download. I do not want a 30 page book on my website so I figured if there was a link to download it would be better.

I hope this all makes sense I really suck at writing and explaining myself :(

  • Hi,
Don’t worry I think I get what you want to do.
you can indeed create an image link to a page on your site.
Basically your insert the image on your page, then select it (click on it) and then click the Link icon in the editor tool bar ( it looks like a chain link).
Doing that will open a window that has a field for you to insert a web address to an external webpage or you can select an existing page on your website.
As to the pdf portfolio, you first need to upload it to the media library by going to the media library and uploading the file.
This support document covers what you need to know:

    Manage Your Site’s Media

If you then click on the icon for the pdf and select the Edit button you will open a window that shows you the details of the file, including a URL which is effectively the web address of the file.
Click the Copy button to put the URL on your clip board then return to the page you want to insert the download link on.
Create some text along the lines of “Download or view our Portfolio”.
Select it and click the Link button in the editor bar (looks like a chain link).
Paste the URL of the file into the URL box and click the arrow button that applies the link to your text.
Viola! you have created a link to a document on your site.
How your visitors browser handles the link depends a bit on the browser itself but basically you have created a link to a document that is available to your customers.
    I hope that helps.

  • Hi there,

  • @fstat Good catch.
    Thanks for putting it straight.
    I totally missed it :(
