Redirect TO WordPress
-
Recently I bought a domain name for myself. Later I found out I need to pay WordPress on a yearly basis inorder to have my blog point to custom domain. Blogger does it for free! Meantime I received a suggestion from a friend that with some settings in the control of my domain management, if a user types in that URL he can be redirected to my WordPress blog. Is it against WordPress policies by any chance?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not against our policies, but there may be somethings that don’t work quite right when you use domain forwarding or masking.

VideoPress videos, potentially the admin panel and internal links depending on how you configured it, and a few other things that seem to be fringe cases.
I recommend just giving it a short and seeing if it works for you.

The other thing is, your paid for domain name will never gather any search engine ranking and you will not build any “brand” with it. For all intents and purposes it is like your new domain name does not exist.
Blogger can do a lot of things for free because they have Google to pay their way. They don’t have to worry about paying for bandwidth, or servers, or datacenters, or support staff, or developers. Google pays for all that.
