redirect wordpress.com to custom domain

  Hi,
  I’d like to upgrade my wordpress.com site to my custom domain(stay in wordpress.com hosting). How can I redirect a permanent link such as ‘myolddomain.wordpress.com/post-abc’ to ‘mynewdomain.com/post-abc’?

  I found an article: https://wordpress.com/support/site-redirect/
  But I don’t understand this part:
  ‘Site redirects will only point to a non-ssl ( http:// ) url. If you have SSL set up on the site you’re redirecting to, the http-to-https redirect will be handled on that end.’

  Many thanks for reaching out.

  When a custom domain is added to the site, the redirect is configured automatically, without any further action.

  There would be no need to follow the instructions here: https://wordpress.com/support/site-redirect/
