redirect wordpress domain to different domain without name server

  Hi,

  I have registered a .com domain through wordpress. I now want to switch from wordpress.com to .org because I need to install plug ins.
  I already made the necessary steps:
  – Registered with a hosting company
  – Made a temporary domain (.nl) which can work as substitute untill the 60 days after my registration of the .com domain are over (6th of March)
  – Set up my wordpress site

  The only thing now is that I have to redirect my .com website to my .nl website.
  My hosting company does not allow name servers.
  And I can’t seem to figure this one out. Hope you can help.

  You’ll need to set up an A-record pointing to their IP address:

  Point a Domain to an External IP Address

  Be advised, it can take up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect, though it usually takes just a few hours.

  Hi,

  Thanks for taking the time to answer me. I did not receive the address from my new host, but found it with ns lookup. But this does not work and now my website is offline. Was this too easy thinking of me and is the ns lookup IP not the same?

  You will need to talk to your webhost to get that IP information.

  Just spoke with them, and because it is a shared hosting package they cannot give me the IP. They said I have to check with you if it is possible (and how) to do a http redirect.

  For me it is not a problem if the URL in the address bar changes. It is not a commercial website.

  So 2 questions from my side:
  1: Can I or you reset the A record, so that the website is again online just as it was? As it is now shows an error message.
  2: Can i do a http: redirect?

  Hi there,

  I have gone ahead and removed the A record which you had previously entered for your domain, and your site should start pulling up soon.

  In regards to the redirect, while we do offer a redirect, it is for an added fee. You can read about the offering right here:
