redirect wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
Hi,
I’ve found articles that detail how to direct my wordpress.com blog to a wordpress.org blog on my website. When I go to the ‘upgrade’ and ‘domain’ section on the wordpress.com blog it asks me to enter the domain name for my wordpress.org blog, which Yahoo set up. I just clicked through their instructions and it was set up within my domain with the URL “http://www.westwoodlabradoodles.com/blog”.
But the domain upgrade system says I cannot direct my wp.com blog to a subdirectory….no slashes allowed. How can I correct this so I am able to redirect.
Thanks for any help,
HeleneThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.COM can redirect to TLD’s (top level domains) or to subdomains blog.mydomain.com, but they will not redirect to subdirectories such as mydomain.com/blog/ .

The techie answer is that you must create a CNAME record at your domain management system that redirects blog.westwoodlabradoodles.com to your blogname.wordpress.com. (It doesn’t have to be “blog”, it can be any subdommain name that you choose)

I don’t want to direct TO wp.com. I want to direct the wp.com TO my wp.org hosted on my domain. There are very specific directions on how to do that, but I can’t even start as long as my blog is in a subdirectory of my domain. I don’t know how to reorganize the structure to get it out of a subdirectory.
