Redirecting a domain name

At the moment the domain patsytrench.com directs people to the url above, londontheatrevisits.com. How do I get it instead to direct them to another WordPress blog, namely selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com?

    Thanks in anticipation

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have currently three WordPress blogs/websites and four domain names. ! I would like to do the following and would be really grateful if someone could tell me how to do it:

My domain names are patsytrench.com, londontheatrevisits.com, theworstcountryintheworld.com and selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com. Patsytrench.com currently points to londontheatre visits.

What I want to do is create a new site under patsytrench.com which incorporates material from the self publishing site and the book site (worstcountry), and retain londontheatre visits as a separate site. So I am then left with two sites.

If someone could tell me how to direct patsytrench.com away from londontheatre visits to the self publishing site this would solve my problem.

    Thank you!

    Hi there!

I have transferred the domain mapping for patsytrench.com to selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.wordpress.com. I have set the primary domain to: selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com so that when you go to patsytrench.com, you are automatically redirected to selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com.

If that is not what you get when you go to patsytrench.com, please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below:

    Hello Grace

Thank you so much, that works wonderfully.

Next question: is there any way when someone searches under patsytrench.com that that same name could come up on the url window? I eventually want to phase out both the selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com and theworstcountryintheworld.com domain names when they reach their expiry date, and accumulate everything that’s in them under the domain name patsytrench.com.

I hope that all makes sense!

We will automatically sends notifications to Google with every update. However, search engines can take 4 to 6 weeks (or more) to add any new sites.

For more information about WordPress.com and search engines, please see this guide:

So, I would just give it a few weeks and you should be good to go!

    Cheers!

Thanks again Grace. Just to clarify: three of my domain names are up for renewal in Jan and Feb 2015. Since I only want to renew one – patsytrench.com – will the site this currently points to (selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com – remind me not to give myself such long domain names in future … ) still exist?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes you have three domains all set for renewal in February:

theworstcountryintheworld.com (February 26th, set for autorenewal one month in advance)

patsytrench.com (February 9th, autorenewal disabled, must be manually renewed)

    selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com (February 5th, autorenewal disabled)

If you want you site currently found at patsytrench.com instead of selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged.com, please go to Store > My Domains in your Dashboard and set patsytrench.com as the primary domain. Then, can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

Thanks Grace, I’ve done as you suggested. Now I need to find out how to renew patsytrench.com and to turn off the auto renewal for selfpublishingforthetechnicallychallenged, and to delete worstcountryintheworld.com when it’s up for renewal. I’ve tried looking under Store but can’t find out how to do this. Can you help me again?

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, I was mistaken. The credit card on file for worstcountryintheworld.com has expired so it will not be renewed.

You can add auto-renewal credit card info for patsytrench.com by going here:

Again thank you so much Grace for your helpful and speedy replies. I am now all set and will renew patsytrench.com manually. I’m hugely grateful for your help.
