Redirecting a subdomain to an external site

    I’m trying to help my son with what should be a simple problem, but it’s a bit beyond my experience.

    Assume that we have a domain example.com and we have purchased the Custom DNS upgrade so that example.com resolves to example.wordpress.com. What we want to do is add a DNS record so that the subdomain store.example.com redirects to an external site, say perhaps yahoo.com/somestorename.

    I believe that this would be done with a CNAME record, but I can’t figure out the correct format. Can anyone give me an example of how to set this up?
