Redirecting an existing url to my new WordPress url

I’ve tried reading about this, but the more I read the more confused it get.
I have an existing url: http://www.milehijacl.org that I would like to redirect to my new WordPress url: milehighjacl.org that I will purchase. I think the instructions that I want to follow are the subdomain mapping, but I’m not sure.
The follow up questions to this is once I stop paying my previous registrar for the http://www.milehijacl.org url, will my redirect to my new one still work or should I also stop/cancel the redirect?
I’m sorry I’m sure you get this questions all the time, but thank you for your help!
    Blog url: http://milehighjacl.wordpress.com/

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi milehigh– I don’t know how you would be able to have a redirect from a URL that is no longer active/paid for… so I’d figure no, it wouldn’t still work. If you know of some way to do this though, let me know.

I noticed your http://www.milehijacl.org site doesn’t currently redirect.

Did you want to setup a simple redirect just from your main site page or redirect from any page on your site?

If you’d like the main site page to redirect to your wordpress site, I could code that for you, it’s a simple edit.

If you want all of your pages to be redirected to your wp blog, that would require domain forwarding. I’m not sure how to do that you’d have to contact your host to set that up.
