Redirecting and email

Pardon me if this has been asked before, but I’ve done a lot of reading in here and haven’t found my answer. I have my own domain (mydomain.com). I am interested in having my WordPress blog come up when i go to mydomain.com (yes, I know there is a fee). My question is can I setup the redirection so that mydomain.com brings up my mydomain.wordpress.com blog but show the url still as mydomain.com.

Also, if I do it this way, will my existing email accounts for mydomain.com remain unchanged?

    Thanks a lot.

Yes, I read those but I’m still unclear. I don’t want mydomain.com to point to my wordpress.com blog. I want my wordpress.com blog to point to mydomain.com. So…I want to be able to go to mydomain.com and have the wordpress.com site come up BUT NOT with the wordpress domain name.

In other words…I want to go to http://www.mydomain.com and have the mydomain.wordpress.com blog come up but for the url to remain http://www.mydomain.com. So the redirecting is done from the wordpress side not the mydomain.com side. Is THAT possible?

that’s what it does, as far as i know

Yes that’s exactly what it does.

Sorry…just want to clarify further. mydomain.com is with my own hosting company. I do not want it hosted by wordpress.com. It seems that that is how they have it locked down…that they have to host it. Is that correct?

Like with Blogger.com, you can just have it redirect to your own domain (and for free, I might add). So for an extra…$10 i think…I can do the same thing with wordpress?

No it is not correct. You are free to register a domain and then switch hosts. One or two hosts do not play clean in this regard but that is the way it should work. Who is the domain hosted with now?

It is hosted with Lunarpages. I guess I’m just confused because the help files here don’t really make it clear that you can do what I’m wanting to do. So I don’t have to change nameservers and all that jazz…just redirect my wordpress blog to mydomain.com for a fee? Well I guess if it’s that easy, i’m happy.
