Redirecting domain registered through wordpress.com to a subdomain
-
I have searched all over wordpress and google and can’t find a solution to my problem. I will try to explain it best I can.
I currently have a wordpress.com blog with a custom domain but I wanted to move to a self-hosted wordpress.org to be able to run ads and so on. I had someone set up this other blog for me and he put it under a subdomain on his own site.
I thought it would be as simple as changing the nameservers to redirect the blog but after doing that, it lands on a generic bluehost page like you would find if the domain name was available.
I went back and changed the nameservers back to the way they were(it is still pointing to the bluehost page but I don’t think it has been long enough).
My question is, how can I redirect my domain name(without transferring it to bluehost) so that it points people to my blog at the subdomain. Is there something I need to put in my custom DNS?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Changing the name servers is correct – HOWEVER – your host (and friends account) need to have some configuration done to correctly route the name servers to the correct sub-domain of your fiends account, but that has the correct custom domain name –
Ask over at WordPress.ORG as they are the keepers of the software you are using and that is done every day with the WordPress.ORG software – also you might want to ask your new host for help
