Redirecting domains
-
I have a domain purchased through WordPress – let’s call it http://www.example.com.
I have another domain purchased through WordPress – let’s call it http://www.redirectthisdomain.comWhat I would like to do is redirect traffic from http://www.redirectthisdomain.com to a specific page on the other domain which would be something like this: http://www.example.com/use-this-page
How can I accomplish this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You can see below article for site redirection.

Hi there,
Can you please give the actual domains you’re speaking of? The account you’re using to post here does not own any domains on WordPress.com, and the correct answer here is vastly different depending on whether your site is hosted on WordPress.com, or using the open source version of WordPress at another provider.
The domain indicated at the bottom of your post, for example, focusbyhenderson.com, is registered and hosted by Namecheap, so any redirect on that domain will have to be set up with them, not with us.

Thank you all,
I was able to get on support chat and they helped me through it. I was actually posting this question for a friend which is why there were no domains in my name.Below is a copy of the support chat (unfortunately WP does not provide a name for the person helping). It was a great experience and I was admittedly surprised…
Support Chat
ME:Hi. I purchased the domain twocanplaygala.com and I would like it to redirect to this page on a different domain: https://alwaysmakingithappen.com/twocanplaythatgame/
Hi there! Let me take a look at your settings for just a moment.
ME:Both domains are registered via WP and AlwaysMakingItHappen.com is hosted with you as well.
Thanks for that information! I’m still looking for a solution for you : )
:)Just to ensure that I understand, you want the domain to point to a specific page, correct?
ME:Yes. I would like the domain twocanplaygala.com to point to https://alwaysmakingithappen.com/twocanplaythatgame/
OK. You can try using a redirect plugin to do so.
ME:Does the redirect plugin have to be installed on twocanplaygala.com
I have one installed on alwaysmakingithappen.com and I can not get it to work correctly…twocanplaygala.com is connected to alwaysmakingithappen.com right now so visiting twocanplaygala.com takes you to alwaysmakingithappen.com
ME:I know. But I need it to go to that specific event page. I am helping a friend and I am not sure how she got it to work in the first place so I am trying to make heads or tails of it
I understand. If you have a redirect plugin installed I can take a look. It would need to be installed on alwaysmakingithappen.com
Actually, I am sorry, you may not need the redirect plugin. One moment, please.
ME:It is. I deleted the redirect and it is still redirecting in an incognito window…that is what I do not understand.
COOL!!!If you create another FREE WordPress.com account (like twocanplaygala.wordpress.com), we can move the domain twocanplaygala.com to that site then you can add a redirect so that it points to the page that you would like it to.
ME:Okay. So, if I create a new FREE wordpress.com account we would then transfer the domain to that account and redirect from there, right?
Not an account, a site. So you don’t need a new WordPress.com account.
ME:I would need to install the plugin to do that, correct?
No. We would add the redirect on our end.
ME:So, go to My Sites → Switch Sites and click on the Add New Site link.
Okay. Since I am not the owner of the account and I do not know Rita’s credentials, can I set it up for her?No, she would have to do it.
ME:Thought so. Can I print or save this chat for her?
It will be emailed to you once we end it.
ME:Thank you so much! When she sets up the site she should hop on this support link again and you guys will make the magic happen, right?
Correct! :)
ME: THANKS!!! Have a great day!
You too.
