Redirecting emails

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

    I need to redirect my emails to Zimbra, from my two hosts, Fasthosts and Namesco, rather than wordpress. I received this message from Namesco,

    ‘Dear Katie,

    Thank you for getting in touch with us about your emails.

    At the moment your domain is pointing to the nameservers:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com

    If you wish to have your email directed to us, you will need to give your nameserver provider our MX records:

    athena.hosts.co.uk
    hermes.hosts.co.uk

    Please ensure that the PRIORITY of these records have a lower number than any other MX records you may have. (eg 10)

    Once these are in, it will take up to 24 hours for these to propagate.

    Please rate our responses so that we may improve our service. Visit http://feedback.namescosupport.co.uk/index.php?id=553 to let us know how we’ve done.

    Please let us know if you have any further questions – we will be more than happy to help.

    You can also view a number of useful articles and video tutorials in our Knowledge Base at http://www.names.co.uk/knowledge
    Kind Regards,

    I tried pasting the names into the change DNS box, but I’m not sure if I did it right? Also, I’m not sure what the process is with Fasthosts; they gave me the mail server IP address, 213.171.216.114, but they didn’t seem to have a nameserver provider and they say I can’t fix this on their website control panel.

    Can you help me please; am currently getting no emails!

    Thanks,

    Katie

  • Hi Katie – no problem, I’ve entered the MX records they gave you here.

    Can you please give it some time to propagate and then see if your email is working?

    Hi Eurello,

    Thanks so much! It works now. Quick question, how do I change the code to make the menu lower case on Twenty Twelve on the CSS?

    Thanks,

    Katie

    Hi Eurello,

    Another quick question; I’m not sure if the (email visible only to moderators and staff) email is coming through? Joy Factory one is.

    Thanks,

    Katie

    Hi,

    Me again, did you add the hermes addresses etc to (email visible only to moderators and staff), as this won’t work as that URL is hosted by fasthosts?

    Thanks,

    Katie

  • Hi Katie,

    Quick question, how do I change the code to make the menu lower case on Twenty Twelve on the CSS?

    Try the following:

    .main-navigation a, .main-navigation li a {
    text-transform: lowercase;
    }

    Me again, did you add the hermes addresses etc to (email visible only to moderators and staff), as this won’t work as that URL is hosted by fasthosts?

    I’m confused – is your email for domain joyfactory.co.uk hosted with Namesco, and your email for domain katiemakes.co.uk hosted with Fasthosts?

    If so, for the katiemakes.co.uk records, I’ve added that IP that Fasthosts gave you. Let me know if this works!

    Hi Eurello,

    Thanks so much, both of those have worked a treat. I hope you don’t mind all these questions? How can I get ‘who is…katie makes’ in the same font as the other menu items and can I make my follow katie makes widget font lower case? And can these lower case words have capital letters?

    Thanks so much; great support!

    Katie

    Oh and one other thing, how can I get my header image really crisp? I saved it for web in illustrator.

    Thanks!

    Katie

  • Hi Katie,

    How can I get ‘who is…katie makes’ in the same font as the other menu items

    It is in the same font for me – are you seeing something different than this:
    http://cl.ly/image/0q152i0a2b1w

    can I make my follow katie makes widget font lower case?

    Try:

    .widget-area .widget h3 {
    text-transform: lowercase;
    }

    And can these lower case words have capital letters?

    I don’t know how you’d do that with CSS, but you might check in the CSS Customization forum to see if the experts have any advice for you. :)

    Also, you can play around with all your fonts here:
    https://katiemakesuk.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-fonts

    Oh and one other thing, how can I get my header image really crisp?

    For that, you’ll just have to play around with the sizing. Try resizing it to the exact size for your header area before you upload it. That’s 960x250px for Twenty Twelve.

    Hi Eurello,

    Re widget, thanks, fixed. Re menu, no, font is different. Any ideas? Using Chrome.

    thanks,

    Katie

    Hi Katie, just to make sure I understand, are you seeing the “who is…katie makes?” menu item at the top of the page in a different font from your other menu items? I see them all in the same font, so I want to make sure we are looking at the same thing.

    Can you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service such as Snaggy. That will help me understand what you’re seeing so I can help with this further. Thanks!

    Hey Rachel,

    thanks for that. Does this work:

    Katie :)

    Hi Katie,

    Thanks for the screenshot! It looks like this is an issue that is specific to Windows Chrome — I reproduced the issue there, but it looks fine in other browsers and operating systems.

    The problem is the ellipsis (three periods) in that page title. For some reason, Windows Chrome changes the font style when you have that in the title. If you put spaces between each period or remove the periods from the title, it should fix itself.

    Please let me know if that resolves the issue for you! :)

    Hi Rachel,

    thanks so much, that has worked! I am learning lots about code etc here!

    Katie

  • Unknown's avatar

    You’re welcome! I learned something new with this, too. :)

    Hey Rachel,

    How are you? So, I’m working on my other url now! https://joyfactorylondon.wordpress.com (www.joyfactory.co.uk)

    I need to connect this to names.co, I started another convo about this. Can you help with that at all?

    Also, I need to make the widget text lowercase. I pasted in the code you gave me before, but it didn’t work – do I need a new set for it to work?

    Thanks so muich,

    Katie

    Hi Katie,

    I’ve responded to your question about the other URL in that forum thread:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/connecting-wordpress-to-namesco-domain-name?replies=2

    It looks like the widget text on that blog is also lowercase, but please let me know if you’re not seeing it as you expect. You may need to refresh your browser or clear your browser’s cache and cookies to see the change. (You can also reply about this issue in that thread to keep everything together, if you’d like.)

    Hey Rachel,

    Thanks for the reply; I managed to fix it all myself thanks to your helpful prior teaching!

    Cheers,

    Katie
