Redirecting external already-owned web address to my site

I have a blog with a custom (.com) domain registered through wordpress, and I want to redirect another domain I already own (registered externally) to this primary address as well (but keep the WordPress custom domain as the primary address). Is it as simple as mapping the external domain name in the ‘my domains’ menu in my dashboard (and paying the $13 per year), then ensuring the primary address is still my pre-existing custom domain? And by doing this, is there any chance my custom wordpress domain will accidentally disappear/unregister, or my blogpost link addresses will change? I want to make sure everything stays exactly the same, with the only difference being I have a second web address redirecting to my site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Yes, it is.

As long as you keep your primary domain as the one you want to use, nothing will change.

Let me know if you have any trouble.
