Redirecting from wrong URL to existing WP.com blog entry

  Hi there. Hoping someone can advise if the following is possible.

  We used to run the Thumbcast blog at Tumblr, and moved it across to WP.com in August. We didn’t mind dumping a lot of the old content, but we find one particular article from the Tumblr site keeps getting traffic trying to find it on the new site via its old URL. Is there any way to redirect those visitors to the equivalent blog entry on the new WP.com site, rather than them getting a 404 error from the link?

  I’m sorry to say the answer is “no”. As the post have been deleted at Tumblr there is no solution to this. Google clears their caches every 3 – 6 months and until they do that the Tumblr link will still be in the SERPs.
