Redirecting my Blog to a Registered WordPress Domain

    My Newly Registered Domain is not redirecting me to my Blog which is hosted on wordpress.com. (More accurately it is redirecting me however it will not display the page).

    First off I have read a few of the forum posts to try to work out what is causing this issue however I do not believe this issue is on my end. I should also point out that this is my first Blog and hosted site so I’m no expert.

    I have created a Blog on WordPress.com which I can access with ‘lloydfitzroysmith.wordpress.com’ and I have purchased the PREMIUM package which allowed me to register a new domain name and get the privacy protection.

    I have registered a new domain called ‘lloydfitzroy-smith.com’, This domain is my primary domain. I have waited over 5 days for the site to propagate which should take around 72 hours (3 days).

    When I upgraded to PREMIUM I received an email confirming this however when I registered a new domain I did not receive any email. (I have read forum post which state I should have received an email)

    If my primary domain is ‘lloydfitzroysmith.wordpress.com’ I can access my Blog however if my primary domain is ‘lloydfitzroy-smith.com’ I can not access my Blog, I get the message ‘This webpage is not available’.

    Also under the ‘My Upgrades’ section of my account it reads ‘DNS needs to be updated’, I believed this would disappear when my site has propagated however it still remains.

    The only issues I can think of is, 1) if my site hasn’t fully propagated yet. 2) If my domain did not register correctly, or 3) I have made a mistake somewhere, like not connecting my Blog to my new domain (which I think is automatic, but I could be wrong).

    Your domain was not successfully registered.

    Can you please try adding it to your site, once again?

    Register a New Domain

    There will be no charge.

    If you are still having a problem, let me know, and we can take the next troubleshooting step, once I get more feedback.

    Thank You, I have done this, again it redirects me to ‘lloydfitzroy-smith.com’ but the webpage displays ‘This webpage is not available’.

    I assume I now need to wait for the page to propagate again before it will display my Blog.

    Thanks for your assistance, I’ll get back in touch after 72 hours have passed to inform you if this issue has been resolved.
